Darmian has no problem with Mourinho despite making just three appearances for Man Utd

Matteo Darmian insists there are “no problems” between Jose Mourinho and his players, with even those seeing limited game time still enjoying a positive relationship with their manager.

It has been suggested on a regular basis throughout the 2018-19 campaign that internal divides have opened up at Old Trafford.

Paul Pogba has seen as many questions asked of a supposed battle with Mourinho as he has his form this season, while rift talk has also surrounded the likes of Antonio Valencia and Anthony Martial.

Darmian, though, maintains that everybody within the United squad is pulling in the same direction.

He includes himself in that, with the Italian telling ESPN FC after being handed just a third outing of the season against Arsenal on Wednesday: “Between us, [there are] no problems - between the manager and the players.

“So we have to keep working. Try to work harder and try to do what we are doing to try to win as many games as possible.”

Winning games has been an issue for United of late, with a 2-2 draw against the Gunners seeing a run without a Premier League success stretched to four outings.

Mourinho’s side find themselves eighth in the table as a result, with an eight-point gap separating them from the top four.

There is clearly much work to be done, but Darmian believes positives can be taken from a meeting with Arsenal that saw the Red Devils hit back on two occasions to claim a share of the spoils.

He added: “I think that it was not the result that we wanted before the game. But today was a tough game. We started very well but we conceded two goals.

“I think we had two good reactions after their goals and at the end, it was a draw.

“Now we have to think game by game and try to win a lot of matches because this period is very important. A lot of games are coming and you have to be ready.

“Everyone who played did very well. It was not enough today but now we have to be focused in the next game.

“You know that when results are not what we want the feelings are not very good. But we have to keep working.”

United will be back in action on Saturday when they play host to rock-bottom Fulham.
